Audit & Quality Assurance

Author of: HyperAudit ©1990 A surgical audit programme in the form of a Hypercard™ stack for the Macintosh™ operating system. This system produces a discharge letter, annual audit and registrar logbook in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Format. It can also produce an audit summary of any given time period or can be used as a database to retrieve information on individual operations or surgeons.

From 1990 until 2000 this programme was used to audit all general surgical activities at The Alfred and Caulfield General Medical Centre. In part it formed the basis for the new audit system established in 2000.

For 2 years I served on the executive of the Division of Surgery and Clinical Support at The Alfred as the Quality Assurance representative.

At The Alfred, I was a member of the Patient Safety and Care Committee. Until 2000, I also served on the Pharmacy, Therapeutics Advisory Committee.

At Caulfield General Medical Centre I served on the Infection Control Committee.

From 1998 - 2005 I have been the co-ordinator of the annual General Surgery Audit at Cabrini Hospital. I review the monthly morbidity statistics and report to the Medical Director.
